About the story

Every ten years, Harrowmere sends a woman up the mountain. This time Elin Marsh volunteers, armed with a compass and no plan at all. The dragon waiting at the top doesn't want a bride. He wants a mapmaker. One year of service buys her village's freedom. The mountain is freezing. He is not.
